Spectrum 800 Series Raku Glazes

Spectrum’s 800 Series Raku glazes bring metallic flashes, smoky crackle, and unpredictable beauty to raku firings. Each piece becomes an experiment in fire and atmosphere, yielding dramatic surfaces that can’t be duplicated. The results highlight the unique character of raku, turning every firing into a discovery.

Pieces are fired to 1750°F (950°C) in an electric or gas kiln. While still red hot, the glazes piece should be transferred into a reduction bin; commonly a small sealable metal container containing organic material. The reduction bin should be closed and the piece allowed to cool for at least twenty minutes before removing and cleaning it.
