Brent
BioBat
|
|
New for 2009!!!
Brent BioBat

BioBat Detail |
One of the first products in the Brent Green Series, the BioBat is made
of bio-composite material combining 100% reclaimed organic fiber with
100% recycled thermoplastic. The BioBat is a new eco-friendly version of
the original Plasti-Bat, and offers the same characteristics: virtually
indestrudtible, does not splinter, delaminate, swell or shrink.
The organic fiber used for the BioBat is a normal by-product of the
forestry industry, so no additional wood has been depleted in
production. The BioBat has slightly more texture than the Plasti-Bat, is
much like a wood bat in that it's textured on both sides. It is more
rigid than plastic bats and does not bend or flex easily, which enables
potters and students to keep vessels completely flat when removing the
bat from the wheel head. BioBats are available in 12" and 14" diameter
and are drilled with bat pin holes.

Duron Bat

|
Often called "Masonite" these
bats are 1/4" thick, smooth on both
sides, oil tempered, and least expensive. They do require
care-- they must be stored dry and reversed with each use to
prevent warping. Pin holes are 10" apart.
|
|
HDPE
(High-Density Polyethylene) Plastic Bat
 |
By far our most popular bats, these 1/4" thick bats have a matte finish on both sides to hold and release
clay more easily; plus the pin holes are drilled all the way through
for ease of use. These are permanent, no-maintenance bats that
are nearly indestructible and will never warp. Pin holes are 10"
apart.

|
Universal
Bat w/ 10 Inserts
 |
All production bats but one are simply flat circles intended for wheel
heads with two batpins. The exception is the Universal Insert
Bat which saves space when making pieces with a small footprint. The outer bat is 1/2" thick Medex
and the inserts are 1/4" Duron which fit flush with the top of the outer bat. Inserts
remove easily yet fit snugly enough that the cavity stays free of clay
and slurry.

Hydro-Bat

 |
The Hydro-Bat is made of gypsum cement which
makes it nearly ten times stronger then conventional plaster bats,
with a similar water absorption rate.
No longer will you cut through the bottom of your piece with a
dangerous wire tool.
With the Hydro-Bat you won't need a wire tool. Just simply allow your
thrown form to stiffen and easily lift it off the surface. You know
that annoying little wobble you get when you use a plastic bat, well
the Hydro-Bat has solved that problem. Cast into the bottom of the bat
are
two hard rubber grommets that assure a snug fit on all standard (3/8")
bat pin heads. This will allow you to use the Hydro-Bat on just about
every potter's wheel out there.
So melt down those plastic bats and set aside your plaster to make
room in your studio and classroom for the new Hydro-Bat.

Medex Bat

extremely strong. Will not degrade like particle board. More expensive
but PERMANENT.

Duron Paddle Bat
 |
Often called "Masonite" these bats are1/4" thick, smooth on both sides, oil
tempered, and least expensive. The Paddle Bat has a 8" x 8" work
surface with a 5" handle. They are great for handbuilding and
transporting work from the wheel to drying racks. They
do require care-- they must be stored dry and reversed with
each use to prevent warping.
