Surface Alchemy: Exploring Glaze and Surface Techniques Workshop

Join us for a two-day intensive Amaco mid-range glaze workshop at Clay King. We’ll be exploring a ton of unique surface possibilities with the new Crawls, Potter’s Choice, and Kiln Ice glazes. Plus, we’ll have Celadons, Satin Matts, and Phase glazes on hand for layering magic. Demonstrations on glaze application and surface decoration using wax and layering will be included. On Friday afternoon we will load a kiln and examine the results as a group on Saturday. On the second day, we’ll get hands-on with the Ceramic Inks, printing on bisque and leather-hard clay. Participants need to bring to 6-8 small pieces of bisque and test tiles for glazing.  Tumblers and small bottles made from 1-2 pounds of clay are ideal. This is your chance to try out a bunch of different Amaco glazes and see the results in person. There’ll be plenty of time for questions and lots of finished pieces to check out. Glazes and brushes will be provided, so bring your bisque, a sketchbook, an open mind, and an apron.

Class Cancellation:

• Cancel after first class – Tuition Credit for 50% of class fee
• Cancel after second class – Not Refundable
• Missed classes are not refundable and cannot be made up on a later date.
