Dipping Glazes

Browse our selection of glazes available in dry form and 3 gallon quantities for dipping! Choosing dry glazes is a cost-effective alternative to pre-mixed wet glazes, offering significant savings without sacrificing the quality, consistency, and support that commercial glazes provide.

Pro Tip: On average, you can expect to yield 1.5 to 2 gallons of liquid glaze for every 10 lbs. of dry glaze powder, though this may vary based on the manufacturer’s mixing instructions.

Steps for Mixing Dry Glaze:

  1. Check the Label: Follow the manufacturer’s recommended water-to-glaze ratio.
  2. Add Water: Measure most of the recommended water into a clean bucket.
  3. Add Dry Glaze: Slowly pour the dry glaze into the water, stirring continuously.
  4. Mix Thoroughly: Stir well and scrape the sides and bottom of the bucket to remove any dry glaze stuck there.
  5. Remove Lumps: Screen the mixture through a 60 or 80 mesh sieve to remove lumps.
  6. Let Sit: Allow the glaze to sit for 12-24 hours, then remix and adjust consistency with small amounts of water.
  7. Test: Dip and fire a test tile. Adjust specific gravity if needed based on the test results.
