Join Clay King and Mayco Colors for a hands-on, two-day immersive workshop showcasing Mayco’s stoneware glazes in a cone 10 atmospheric wood/soda firing. The event features hands-on glazing, kiln loading, a firing experience, carving and glaze application demos, and a valuable session on social media for potters.

Schedule

Friday, July 25

  • 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM: Meet & Greet with Mayco Representative: Todd Hickerson
  • 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Mayco Stoneware Glaze Presentation + Atmospheric Application Demos
  • 12:00 – 1:00 pm: Break for lunch
  • 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Glazing Session (participants glaze their work)
  • 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM: Kiln Loading
  • 5:00 PM onward: Kiln Candling / Preheat Overnight

Note: Participants need to bring 10 bisqued pieces 6″x6″ or smaller. Greenware may be dropped off
at least a week prior for bisque firing. Larger work may be brought- but we will load the kiln to prioritize maximum participant pieces, and larger work may be left out.

Saturday, July 26

  • 9:00 AM: Open to guests – kiln stoking and gas firing begins
  • 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Carving Demo + Artist Talk with Hope Limyansky
    Break for Lunch
  • 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM: Glaze Application Techniques with Todd Hickerson of Mayco Colors
  • 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM: Social Media for Potters Workshop with Hope Limyanksy
  • 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM: Break for dinner
  • 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM (approx.): Soda Application and Kiln Shut Down

Post-Firing Plan

  • Cool Down: Kiln cools over Sunday and Monday
  • Unload & Pickup: Tuesday Unload (TBD based on kiln temp)
    • Photo Documentation Station: All pieces will be photographed on site before released for pickup
    • Pickup Day Options: Friday/Saturday following the event
    • Need Your Work Shipped? +$35-$50 shipping cost and liability waiver signed required.

Studio Policies

Class Cancellation:

  • Cancel more than 5 days before start date of the first class – Full Refund
  • Cancel within 5 days of the first class – Tuition Credit for 100% of class fee.
  • Cancel after first class – Tuition Credit for 50% of class fee
  • Cancel after second class – Not Refundable
  • Missed classes are not refundable and cannot be made up on a later date.

Workshop Cancellation:

  • Cancel more than 3 days before workshop – Full Refund
  • Cancel within 3 days – Tuition Credit
