FIRE TO
CONE 10
- Hot enough to fire
stoneware and porcelain.
- The DaVinci production
kilns are unequivocally rated for cone 10 operation (2350F, 1287C).
- They
have a higher K.W. power rating (watts per interior square inches)
than most other ceramic kilns.
- DYNA-GLOW HARD
CERAMIC ELEMENT HOLDERS
- an
exclusive L&L feature

- Protect soft
fragile firebrick. Replacing elements does not damage brick. Elements
don’t sag or fall out of grooves. No pins are necessary.
- Have a hard,
smooth surface which allows the elements to expand and contract
freely. No loose brick particles will fall in the kiln and ruin ware.
- The thin,
dense wall of the holders reflects the infrared heat into the kiln.
Elements operate at a lower temperature relative to the internal kiln
temperature.
UNIQUE
SPRING-LOADED COUNTERBALANCED LID

- The lid can be opened with
one hand by almost anyone - even the largest lid on the T3400 Series.
- Because the lid closes
gently there is less wear and tear on the lid and lip and less chance
of breaking the lid. The counterbalance system takes almost all the
weight of the lid off the kiln.
- In addition, the lid is
fully supported around the perimeter with structural steel members.
This takes stress off of the fragile firebrick.
- The hinge post is
adjustable up and down. This allows the hinge system to be adapted to
your kiln if you add or remove a section.
- There are safety chains to
lock the lid in the up position.
- The counterbalance frame is
bolted to two kiln sections. You can remove the upper section of
36" kilns and the upper two sections of 45" high models
without dismantling the counterbalanced hinge or removing the lid.
- The heavy-duty hinge system
is made of welded structural steel.
SQUARE
& RECTANGULAR "PLUS" DESIGN
Utilizing sound
engineering principles, the square and rectangular "Plus"
DaVinci design provides a very stable structure. It is far stronger than
oval kiln designs where the weak front can cave in under pressure (from
loading or moving).
3"
Premium Firebrick
- All L&L Kilns
use premium grade K23 brick. These bricks are highly insulating and
lightweight.
- 3" Brick is more
energy efficient than 2½" firebrick especially when doing high
fires or long soaks.
- 3" brick allows for
a slower natural cool down. All DaVinci production kilns use 3"
thick premium firebrick
brick
hardened with special coating & HARDENER
We coat our
firebrick with a proprietary reflective ceramic coating which penetrates,
binds and hardens the surface of the entire interior of the kiln.
- This reduces brick dusting.
which promotes a clean interior of the kiln.
- It increases brick life by
reducing chipping and spalling.
- It increases operating
efficiency and uniformity by reflecting heat back into the kiln.

LISTING

optional
bottom elements
- Optional bottoms with
elements are available for the X2800, X3200, T2300 and T3400 Series.
- Powered bottoms have 2/3
the power of one of the rings.
- The elements have the same
resistance as the side elements - which simplifies replacement.
- These are highly
recommended for the larger kilns because they improve gradient
uniformity (by reducing cold spots in the bottom) and improve heat up
times
optional
vent-sure vent system

HEAVY-DUTY
ELEMENTS

- All DaVinci production
kilns feature special heavy-duty elements that use heavy gauge premium
Iron-Aluminum-Chrome alloy elements with a very low watt density.
- The lower the watts per
square inch of element surface area the cooler the elements can run
and the longer they last.
- DaVinci elements last 3 to
4 times longer than most typical kiln elements, (a fact that has been
proven in over 15 years of producing DaVinci kilns).
ELEMENTS
ARE EVENLY COILED
- Elements are coiled on a
special automatic machine that puts the proper spacing in the coil.
- Evenly coiled elements mean
no hot spots and longer element life.
ALL
ELEMENTS ARE THE SAME FOR EASY & ECONOMICAL REPLACEMENT
- INDUSTRIAL TYPE
ELEMENT CONNECTIONS WITH SPECIAL CERAMIC BLOCK
-
Elements are
twisted around stainless steel screws mounted on solid ceramic terminal
blocks. The entire assembly is mechanically secure and solid.
-
All contact
between elements and wire lugs is over a wide surface of heavily torqued
stainless steel washers.
-
Changing
elements requires no special tools.
easy
to move & set up
Because the
DaVinci kilns come in 9" high sections, they can be easily moved and
set up. They can be moved through any standard 32" wide doorway because
even the largest sections can be turned on their side. There are four chest
handles on each section for easy lifting and moving.
HEAVY-DUTY
WELDED FRAME BOTTOM

Welded stand is shown without
the aluminized plate that covers it
-
This welded
stand will solidly support the weight of the kiln and the heaviest load
in your kiln.
-
The
aluminized steel plate that sits on top of this stand allows the bottom
brick to move freely while expanding and contracting. It also provides
better support for the kiln so that cracked bottoms are not a problem.
LARGE 1" DIAMETER
PEEPHOLES

-
Peepholes are a
full 1" in diameter with a non-tapered hole. This allows for an
unusually wide viewing area in the kiln.
-
The end of the
peephole features a heat-lock head with helps seal up the peephole.
-
All
L&L Kilns feature these solid ceramic peephole plugs. They are
much stronger and heavier-duty than the typical hollow slip-cast
peephole plugs you find on many competitors' kilns. Although they can
break it is much less likely with these plugs.
INDUSTRIAL GRADE MULLITE
THERMOCOUPLE PROTECTION TUBES
-
Longer life
than the metallic sheathed thermocouples or exposed thermocouples
-
No metal
spalling in the kiln
-
Protection from
contamination found in clay such as sulfur
-
Cheaper
replacement cost for thermocouples
reversible
bottom
The bottom can be
easily reversed in case of a firing mishap (except for powered bottoms).
Sectional construction makes this possible.

multi-zone
design
- Whether you order a manual or
an automatic, every DaVinci kiln is multi-zoned.
- Each 9" section (and
optional powered bottom) has its own separate contactor or manual
infinite switch.
- In the case of the four or
five section automatic kilns the middle sections operate together as one
zone.
