Characteristics: Elements are
non-toxic glazes in earth tones. Surfaces vary from gloss to matte, with
subtle variations in each color.
Application:
- Apply to properly fired shelf cone 04
bisque.
- 3 coats is recommended. 4 coats will
result in a totally different look.
- For a different effect, brush on 3
coats and apply a 4th coat with a silk or sea wool sponge.
- An uneven application will affect the
look of these glazes.
- Elements Chunkies (EL-201 through
EL-206) are a Elements base with the addition of crystals. Apply
them in the same manner, paying attention to the placement of the
crystals.
Firing: Fire to shelf cone 06.
Allow pieces ample room in the kiln for air circulation. Can be fired up
to cone 6. These glazes develop their own personalities when high fired.
Notes:
- Color application, firing time and
temperature, the shape of the piece and placement in the kiln can
all affect the final results of these glazes. Each piece will be
different.
- Intermixing Elements with other glazes
is unpredictable. It is suggested to run test samples. Combining
them with other products may alter the chemical composition and void
their non-toxic status.
- Elements and Element Chunkies are not
overglaze compatible. Experiment and make test samples before using
overglazes with Elements.
