DL 11 Doll Kiln Features

DYNA GLOW ELEMENT HOLDERS

  • Protect Firebrick -Result in Much Longer Kiln Life

  • The shallow cut required by the unique L&L Dyna-Glow element holders makes brick even more energy efficient.

1" DIAMETER PEEPHOLE

  • Allows you to see a wide area inside kiln and is not tapered like most others.

  • Heavy-Duty Insulated plug included. The peephole plug is cast from solid ceramic and includes a heat lock at the head.

GALVANNEALED STAND WITH FULL SUPPORT

  • Protected from corrosion. Includes caps on feet to allow easy moving on floor.
  • The stand is made like the Jupiter kiln stands except that there is no provision for a vent. Reflective surface of stand aids energy efficiency.

BRICK HARDENED WITH SPECIAL FACING

We coat our firebrick with a proprietary reflective ceramic coating which penetrates, binds and hardens the surface of the entire interior of the kiln. Improves radiant heat characteristics and protects brick.

INFINITE INPUT CONTROL ON MANUAL KILN

Infinite control of heat input. This is more controllable than a simple Hi-Medium-Low switch. Includes a pilot light so you know when kiln is firing.

STAINLESS STEEL CASE AND STAINLESS SCREWS

Kilns create corrosive conditions from heat and fumes. L&L kilns are built to last in this tough environment.

For instance, many clays contain sulfur in addition to the moisture that is in the clay. When combined under heat some of these substances combine to form highly corrosive sulfuric acid that can slowly eat away at the case of the kiln.

All Doll kilns feature stainless steel cases. All screws used in the case construction are stainless steel - not zinc or cadmium plated carbon steel which will eventually rot under these tough conditions.

DAWSON KILN SITTER/TIMER ON MANUAL KILN

  • The Dawson Kiln Sitter is actually a time proven automatic shut off device. The reason we call the kiln "manual" is because you need to manually turn up the kiln heat during the firing cycle using the zone switches.
  • A pyrometric cone is inserted in the tube assembly of the Dawson. When the cone bends after the proper amount of heat-work an arm moves which releases a weighted trigger which in turn opens the electrical contacts in the Dawson.
  • A timer is used as a safety back up.
NOTE: The timer can easily be disconnected if you don't want to use it.
  • The timer is set for slightly longer than the anticipated firing length and turns off the kiln in case the tube assembly mechanism fails to active.

DOOR CLIPS

  • Note the stainless steel clips that firmly hold the door firebrick in place instead of relying on the tightness of the stainless steel door band.
